Mudding

I got a good photo up at Mr. Boatman's Room of Ray doing some mudding on the wall. Looking good. Here is a heads up. If you go to Lowe's and are looking for mudding supplies and head to the paint section you are in the wrong area. Go to the drywall place. They have tape and mud in the painting area but it is a whole way lot more expensive. You would figure the mud would be there. All the other supplies needed for good mudding are in the paint area except the cheap mud. It is a trick. Sneak thieves are they.

Painting

I started painting one of the walls yesterday. The old paint on there is horrible. I am going to have to mud a bit to get the wall ready for good paint. So tonight I plan on mudding after yoga so the wall will be ready for fresh paint.

Clean up

It is pretty overwhelming. There is a bunch of little stuff. Just things everywhere. Trying to get organized and move around and do and go. It is difficult to know that to do next. Not having a specific place for things in the new location makes it tricky too. There is the want to move things somewhere but no where to move them too yet.

I am looking for someone who can unhook all the electrical wires in the barn. We need all the lights and plugs and switches taken down and packed away. It could be a big job and needs to be done well. I just do not have that kind of time. So if you know anyone looking for something to do for a couple of days it would be work. It is not a trash job either as it needs to be done carefully and thoughtfully.

If you have not checked out the calendar I think it will be a good way to keep up with things. It does require a signup for a free Google Account. I have the calendar set on my personalize homepage via google. Pretty neat setup.


I am working this afternoon in the barn and Tuesday too. I am planning on meeting Ray and Roy at the 1220 (or 1218 not sure which via the post office or the city) studio on Wednesday after yoga around 7:00.

Wondering about a new logo. Wondering what the Bewley's are thinking for a name of the building.

Progress

It is raining. I went by 12th and Western and there are a couple or three leaks in the ceiling. Nothing bad. Rick said he would be patching the roof too.
Getting things at the barn cleaned up and ready to move. clearning shelves and throwing away. Looks more and more bigger all the time. Thinking now I could really use a truck with a lift gate all the time. It would be worth it for the move.

Music

Come to the Blue Moon on the Paseo this weekend. The Amber Wind Society is playing on Friday at 9:00. Great music. Good friends. It is well worth the trip.

Calendar

I am trying to create a Google Calendar with studio events. I hope to have blow times and schedules posted to this calendar and published online too. It could be an easy way to keep track of goings on at the studio.

We are going over to 1218 N. Western today around 5:30 to begin laying out the floor plan. I have paper and tape and hope to make footprint templates of all the equipment. We can move these around as necessary to get a setup in mind.

Measuring

Amanda Joy and I went Sunday to the new building to measure. It is 38 feet by 46 feet. Nice space. AJ made a map of the place. I need to measure the equipment to start possible layouts. Everything is coming along.
I am looking at a couple of different dates for a possible move. I am heading to Seattle for Spring Break and could move March 17 and 18 or could do March 31 April1. Things depend now on the progress in the building, gas, electric, other people's schedules to help move.
I would like to get everyone together and move everything all at once.
I will keep everyone up to date.

12th and Western

I have made a decision. Blue Sage Studios is moving to 12th and Western in Oklahoma City. There is a lovely building there owned by Rick and Tracy Bewley and Fusion Art Glass. They have 2000 sq. feet in the back end for rent. It is a great location. The setup is fantastic. The opportunity is wonderful. This is the best next right thing to do. We are looking at being moved in four to six weeks. Yippee!

We have not made any progress on a new location. Something will happen to be sure. In the meantime a lot of people are interested in glass blowing and learning the process. Please stay in touch and come visit when we get up and running again.

City Arts

Tonight is the City Arts Center Speak Easy. It should be a hoot.
They have decided not to implement a glass studio into the city arts center at the fairgrounds. I am looking now at renting a place down on 12th and western. We shall see how that comes along.

The Barn

This is it. I turned off the furnace. Things are getting cleaned up out at the studio. Still looking for a new location and know something will show up. The right place, the right time.
