I was recently featured for an article in Oklahoma Homes. Pretty neat stuff.

Summer Clean Up
We have been working around the studio getting things organized again. It is a huge process but lots of fun. The shows in May were great for moving out some of our glass so we can make some more. Summer has been productive. I am working on an installation project. Roy is working on some new shells, Ray is busy getting ready for the GlassWorx showroom next door. Mara is really promoting the building for events and parties. Lots of folks are coming in for lessons and creating new things. Drop in when you get the chance and see what we have been up too.

The Ornament Sessions
Now is certainly the time to book your holiday party at Blue Sage Studios.
The Ornament Sessions
Welcome to Blue Sage Studios where we will be creating a
unique hand blown art glass ornaments. There are many names for this style of glass
decoration: suncatchers, witches balls, kugles. Typically, the ornament is a
three inch diameter ball with a loop on top for hanging.
Individuals will have the opportunity to choose from a
variety of glass colors to adorn their creations. Each member of the group will
create their ornament using 2000 degree molten glass. It takes about ten
minutes to make a piece so be sure to allot a good amount of time when you
schedule your group session. Call the studio 405-601-2583 or email Andy Boatman
andy@bluesagestudios.com to schedule ornament sessions. The studio is
flexible on scheduling but available time slots fill up quickly. We recommend
booking at least two to three weeks in advance. The base cost of the ornament
session is $120 an hour.
At Blue Sage Studios we can host group events of about any
size, from small family gatherings, girls night out, to large group events. Feel
free to bring some snacks and drinks and have a party while you are at the
studio.
For families, everyone is able to participate. Keep an eye on
the little ones as it is a hot glass studio so there are plenty of breakables
around. When we are working one also has to assume that everything is hot. Cotton
clothing and closed toe shoes (tennis shoes are fine) are recommended. A bottle
of water is a good idea.
Blue Sage Studios (1218-C N. Western Ave. Oklahoma City, OK
73106) is located in the Urban Art Building about an block and a half north of
10th on N. Western Ave. We are at the back of the large two story red brick
building on the east side of the road. There is parking in the both the north
and south lots as well as in front of the building.

Square Market
We are posting items for sale in the Square Market. I am really not very good at the marketing side of business. I use SquareUp for credit card transactions and the market they provide is great.

Ice Cream Social
Several years ago I wanted to try Graeter's ice cream. It was going to cost a lot for shipping so might as well order a bunch to try it all and share. So the Ice Cream Social was born.
Every year around this time. Ray and I buy a bunch of ice cream and invite everybody over to the studio for a scoop or two. My mom usually bakes a cake and some of the ladies in the studio bring some brownies. It is an opportunity to get together and hang out for a bit which really does not get to happen all that often.
So come by the studio (1218-C N. Western Ave.) on Sunday, October 26, between 2:00 and 5:00. Have some ice cream. Relax.
We are in the process of building a mobile glass studio and are planning on giving it a test run on Sunday too. So there may be something new and exciting to see on the glass front.
Also be sure to mark your calendars for our Annual Holiday Home Show. We hold our home show every year in conjunction with my Aunt Pat at With Joy Nativities. The Home Show is December 5, 6, and 7.

G.A.S. Chicago
We had the great pleasure to attend the Glass Art Society Conference in Chicago this past week. It was great fun. I was able to attend several lectures on art and design, watch world class artists create signature pieces, and wander the city. I met a lot of new people and was able to connect with old friends once again. I think anytime someone is able to attend a conference in their field it brings new ideas and inspiration to their work.
If anyone is out and about traveling the states going to and fro be sure to stop in Oklahoma and hang out for a while at the studio. It is always a pleasure to see folks and share our space.

New Year
Well it is a new year. We also have a new crucible in the furnace and we rebuilt the small glory hole over the Christmas break. We built a garage as well. Things are looking good at Blue Sage Studios.
Drop by sometime and take a look around and watch us blow some glass.

School Is Back in Session
With the start of the school year things in the studio always change a bit. We are trying a Friday off routine. We shall see how it goes. This results in more compact schedules and we will be having both glory holes running more often resulting in having two folks working at a time. This should help us get folks into the studio and work but not lose time.

Coffee Slingers Install
I created a set of platters for the windows at Coffee Slingers downtown OKC. The project came together nicely. Glass wise I learned a lot and installation wise too. It was a fun project and I am pleased with the out come.
If you are interested in a custom art glass installation just let me know.

OKCMOA Ornaments and Parties
Today is the OKCMOA Ornament Class. It is a great way to learn. Ornaments are repetitive and allow the glassblower to execute multiple skills in a short amount of time. Creating ornaments is great for learning and perfecting skills.
This class has four people and four hours. We usually get about five or six ornaments created per person.
We have been hosting a lot of parties lately in the studio. Times are filling up quickly but if you would like to come into the glass studio for a party call quickly to schedule.
