Blue Sage Studios
1218-C N. Western Ave.
Oklahoma City, OK 73106

www.bluesagestudios.com

Blue Sage Studios is conveniently located just west of downtown Oklahoma City. Our facility is a large, two story building that houses Blue Sage Studios
(a glass blowing studio), Art Fusion
(a fused glass studio), and Istvan Gallery
(an art gallery). Any time we are working in the studio, folks are welcome to drop by and watch us work. We have bleachers and chairs set up for a comfortable environment that can accommodate groups of up to 40 people

Blue Sage Studios
is happy to schedule glass blowing demonstrations for families, tour groups
or the general public. There is never a charge for our demonstrations and we have a gallery space with our handmade glass art for sale. The Urban Art Gallery/Blue Sage Studios is a great place to have your next private party. Call us for more information or to schedule your next party, meeting, or event.

A typical evening in the glass studio consists of the "Gaffer" (that's the person blowing the glass) designing a piece, choosing color, preparing tools and then creating the work of art. Sometimes the artist will work alone but most of the time assistants are helping in the process. It may take forty‐five minutes to an hour and half to create a piece depending on the size and scope of the work. Over the course of an evening the artists at Blue Sage Studios will create several different glass pieces.

We also offer glassblowing lessons at Blue Sage Studios. If you are interested in learning how to blow glass or just want to give it try, give us a call to schedule a one-on-one lesson, or take one of our glassblowing classes through the Oklahoma City Museum of Art.

Like musicians, glassblowers are given the advice of "Don't quit your day job". As a result, the studio is typically open evenings and weekends, but with advance notice, we are able to schedule day tours without any problem.   If you would like to schedule a specific time to visit the Blue Sage Studios, please call 405.601.2583 or email Andy Boatman at andy@bluesagestudios.com.

Tulsa Furnace

Roy, Richard, and I headed to Tulsa last evening to help Sarah with the install of their new furnace. The Effective Heat Furnace is a beauty. It is nearly plug and play. I highly suggest one of these beauties for any glass studio. Granted I know Brent and we have been friends for several years and I own one of the early models of furnace. So in the interest of full disclosure I may be biased toward this furnace but receive no compensation for my endorsement of this system.

The Week Ahead

Well. We had furnace trouble last night during the charge. One of the braids that connects the elements to the electric started arching. It melted. Richard came in and we switched out the braid and in the process lost an element. Replaced it and broke another one. Midnight and we were up and running again. If you see Richard give him thanks.

October 6th through12
Tuesday - heading to Tulsa to help Sarah install the new Furnace
Wednesday - 4 to 9
Thursday 4 to 9
Friday - 4 to 8
Saturday - 9 to 5
Sunday - 2 to 7
Monday - 4 to 9

Then it is Bella Vista Weekend. One of our favorite art festivals of the year.

crash

The furnace crashed over night. 1650 degrees this morning. Richard is troubleshooting it this morning. Hopefully by this afternoon we will be up and running again.
Keep it centered!

UPDATE:
Richard was able to trace the trouble to a bad fuse. He got it changed and we are heating back up. Will finish the charge this afternoon.
Thank Richard "Sparky" when you see him.
